HELLO, 2017!

Guys, we made it! We are a week into the New Year, and I'm feeling good about 2017. I know few people have mentioned this, but aside from President Obama's term ending, I think this year is going to be a good year. I'm not sure what it is, but something about it feels different. And for the first time in years, I'm feeling optimistic about the future and its possibilities.

2016 started off shaky for me, and for whatever reason, I couldn't take myself out of depression. It took some time, but one good thing that comes out of being optimistic is gaining a new perspective on life that makes you want more. As a 20-something-year-old, I realized it was time to work on myself and change my mentality about several things. For two years, I've experienced a lot, so I felt like I owed that to myself. I wanted a chance to be happier and healthier and not just physically, but mentally as well.

That being said, going forward, I'm going to remain optimistic no matter what. I've seen small changes work, so I'm going to continue to carry that perspective with me. Sometimes it's hard to attain, but you have to have a certain attitude to grow. And if that means approaching personal growth, ideas, and situations differently then so be it. You can't feel sorry for becoming a better you. It's all a part of the process of finding yourself, so EMBRACE THE CHANGE.

Seriously, make this a goal and not a resolution.

Start 2017 off with a different mindset. And if you don't know where to begin, fear not. Here are seven tips to start your new beginnings -

1. Reflect.
2. Reevaluate your life.
3. Focus on your goals.
4. Strategize
5. Plant new seeds.
6. Raise your standards.

Together, I'm hopeful that we're going to make 2017 a good year. So let's continue to grow, embrace and inspire each other.

What are some of your goals for 2017?
